10/24 Announcements

  • Students are reminded that they will be riding LEC buses home on Friday afternoon.  Bus numbers have been placed on the Bus Info board outside Ms. Derr's office.
  • SAC will be selling Candy Grams from Friday, October 11 to Friday, October 25. Candy Grams are $4, $5, and $7 ($7 to get out of AVID/ACT on Halloween). This Friday (tomorrow) is the last day to buy Candy Grams!
  • SAC is hosting an Activity Night in the gym Friday, November 1 from 3:30-5:30 where we will watch A Quiet Place and play games.  See Mrs. Sanders or Mrs. Testa for tickets or more info for both.  You can buy tickets as late as 3:30 on November 1.
  • Spirit Week is next week!  Advisories will earn points for participation!
    • Monday (10/28) = Meme Day
    • Tuesday (10/29) = Through the Time Tuesday (Decade Day)
    • Wednesday (10/30) = Squad Day
    • Thursday (10/31) = Costume Day
    • Friday (11/1) = Pajama Day (I Woke Up Like This)
  • A drawing for those who turned in their Teen Health Survey form has been done.  The winners are: Nathaniel Rodriguez who will receive a Tumbler and $10 gift card and Isaac Alvarado who will receive a $50 VISA gift card.  Please see Mrs. Talley to receive. There will be another drawing next week for those who have turned in their form. Please turn in asap if not already done so.
  • The PTSO is selling shirts and sweatshirts.  Orders are due by October 27, 2019.  See leeearlycollege.com for order forms and more information.
  • A Trunk or Treat is happening at the Civic Center on October 30 from 5 - 7.  There will be games, crafts, and candy.
  • The shoeboxes for Operation Christmas Child are due November 6, 2019.
  • Do you play a musical instrument or sing?  Are you looking to join an ensemble?  CCCC has a music group that you are invited to join.  Rehearsals are weekly on Wednesdays from 3-4. Contact Lauren Winkens (lwinkins@cccc.edu) for more information.
  • Dance Club meets every Wednesday from 2:46 - 4 in Ms. Regan’s room.  See Kelis for more details!
  • Cheer is meeting on Thursdays from 3-4 in CCCC’s gym.  Newcomers are welcome. See Ms. Bradian if you have any questions.

You should read through all of the samples to see the difference between each score. 

Eventually, you will be giving peer feedback on your samples essays.

10/17/19 Announcements

Announcements for October 17, 2019

  • McTeacher Night is happening at the Spring Lane McDonald's on Thursday, October 17th from 5-8 PM. Come support and raise money for LEC!
  • The SPEAK group that meets with Ms. Bowen WILL NOT meet this Thursday, 10/17.

  • Reminder!  Parents can learn about a health study that our ninth and eleventh graders are eligible for.  In order to participate in the programs students have to have permission form a parent.  Parents can indicate whether their student has permission to participate by clicking on the link www.teenhealthresearch.com

  • For those in Science Olympiad, mandatory meetings are held on the 1st and 3rd Tuesdays of the month from 3 - 4 PM in Ms. Penwell's room. Non-mandatory meetings are the 2nd and 4th Tuesdays of the month. Non-mandatory meetings can be used as getting extra help or having questions about Science Olympiad competitions answered. During Ms. Penwell's planning period for every Tuesday can be used as another source unless said otherwise. If you are not able to make it to certain meetings, please let Mack, Trey, Audrey, Shelly, or Ms. Penwell know. Hope to see you there!
  • For those in Beta Club, meetings are held on the 2nd and 4th Tuesdays of the month from 3 - 3:30 PM. For the upper-classmen, if you have any friends or classmates who are in Beta, but do not attend, encourage them to participate! If anyone needs a volunteer sheet, extras are in Ms. Bradian's room. Beta Picture Day is October 22nd. Please attend the meetings as they hold important information for events Beta volunteers at and plans. If you have any questions, contact Angel Uy, Danna Lagunas, Suzy Brito, Noemi Perez, Audrey Thomas, Vanessa Garcia, or Ms. Bradian. Hope to see you all there!
  • Math Club meetings are held on the 2nd and 4th Fridays of the month from 2:55 PM - 3:25/30 PM. Math Club meetings are held in Mrs. Sanders' room. Math club is for everyone, those who enjoy math or those who struggle with math. If anyone who is interested or knows anyone is interested, participation is encouraged! Stop by Mrs. Sanders' room to receive your math sheet and join Math Club on Remind @lecmathc or text @lecmathc to 81010. Hope to see you there!   • Sports Club meetings are held on Wednesdays at the CCCC Gym from 3 - 4 PM. Everyone is welcome to join, for those who want to learn a new sport to those who want to play sports games. Free Sports Days are once a month, choose your own sport! If you are interested or someone you know has interest, participation is encouraged! Peer Feedback and Sample Essays

October 14, 2019

Exchange essays with another person or group.
Evaluate their essay using the writing rubric.
Include a plus and delta and pass back the rubric when you are finished.

When you are finished with peer editing, read through sample essays.


You should read through all of the samples to see the difference between each score. 

Don't forget the final exam is on Thursday, October 17.
Get to class ASAP so you can have as much as the 40 minutes to work as possible.
